Advertisers continue to try and combat "ad-skipping" by Digital Video Recorder users, and the latest gimmick is the static ad. FX will be showing an ad for a program called "Brotherhood" airing on Showtime, that will be a static image for thirty seconds. The thinking is that the ad will be visible whether you fast-forward it or not. Gimmick, or the next step in advertisement? Only time will tell.
