TiVo Series 3 HD DVR vs. Comcast HD DVR
Saturday December 30, 2006
Should consumers spend $800 plus a $12.95 per month fee on the brand new High Definition TiVo Series3 Digital Video Recorder or spend $15 a month on a leased HD DVR from their Cable provider? That is the question posed by an article written on mcall.com, For high-definition DVR, TiVo's pros outweigh its cons. It's a very interesting article weighing the pros and cons of buying a new TiVo Series3 compared to a Comcast High Def DVR. The author makes many valid points, although he/she is a bit harsh on the Comcast DVR, in my opinion. For an alternate perspective, read my review of the Comcast HD Digital Video Recorder.

Sal, You think a writer was “a bit harsh” on the Comcast HD DVR? You aren’t nearly harsh enough. The Comcast DVR has a truly horrible user interface, something you failed to mention in your four-and-a-half star review. The difference between the TiVo interface and the Comcast isn’t just night and day, its eternal-darkness-from-hell versus clear-skies-for-eternity. There isn’t a comparison.
