Question: What are the DVD Recorder Features: Time Slip and Chase Play?
Time Slip and Chase Play are two features of Set Top DVD Recorders that include a built-in Hard Drive. DVD Recorders with Hard Drive offer added features not available on regular DVD Recorders. Chase Play and Time Slip are two such features, along with the ability to record hours and hours of TV programming to the hard drive, and then archive your shows to DVD. So what exactly is Time Slip and Chase Play? See below for the answer.
Answer:
Chase Play
The Chase Play feature allows you to begin watching a recording that is already in progress. You don't have to wait for the program to finish recording in order to watch it. You can begin watching the portion of the program that has already been saved while the DVD recorder continues recording the remainder of the program to the hard drive. Major DVD/HDD Recorder manufacturers Panasonic, Toshiba, Pioneer and JVC offer this feature on their recorders. Toshiba and Pioneer also offer "Live Chase Play" on their DVD/HDD Recorders which lets you pause a live recording and then return to it later, much like a true Digital Video Recorder.
Time Slip
The Time Slip feature allows users to play a previously recorded TV show while simultaneously recording another program. The hard drive built into the DVD Recorder can record a new program and playback an old one at the same time, very cool! Toshiba and Panasonic offer this feature with their DVD/HDD Recorders.
